Cambridge Learner Attributes

At SBS, local (Thai) and global perspectives are included throughout the curriculum and other school activities. We design our curriculum and assessments with the Cambridge learner attributes in mind. The five attributes are our way of recognising that students need to develop attitudes and life skills throughout their education, as well as academic skills, in order to be successful at university and in employment. SBS students are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, and engaged and realize that everyone shares responsibility for our planet.

Our Curriculum

Cambridge and International Bilingual Pathways

At SBS Chiang Mai, we offer students a corridor to higher education with the valuable key of bilingualism which allows them to unlock the doors to opportunities worldwide. Underpinning our dual-language pathway, Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) offers a culturally-sensitive international curriculum to ensure your child receives the best in academic learning and holistic development.

SBS Chinese-English Academy

As a pioneer Bilingual International school, SBS remains passionately committed to moving with the times. SBS Chinese-English Academy enables learners to improve both their ability to communicate and their linguistic competence in the English Language. We are at the forefront of increasing learner outcomes through our Cambridge International Programmes.

The SBS Pathway ensures that our graduates have the opportunity to attend universities all over the world through the preparation in the curriculum continuum: Cambridge Lower Secondary (Years 7-9) and Upper Secondary (IGCSE, AS/A Level).

The Chinese-English Academy is open to Years 7-9 and Year 10 students initially and will grow to Year 13 in the coming years. Class size is capped at 25 students to maintain effective student to teacher ratios.

Our Strengths

Cambridge Exam Centre

CAMBRIDGE IGCSE AND GCE A/AS LEVELS

Cambridge IGCSE is recognised by higher education institutions and employers around the world as evidence of academic achievement. Many universities require a combination of Cambridge IGCSE’s and A/AS level examinations as one way to meet their entry requirements.

Cambridge Professional Development (PDQ):

The most important factor in the quality of students’ learning is the quality of teaching and school leadership; SBS recognizes this and hence is the first Cambridge Professional Development Centre in Chiang Mai!

Cambridge Professional Development Qualifications (Cambridge PDQs) are designed to enrich teaching and learning. Teachers develop their professional thinking and practice continuously throughout their careers and that is why SBS has designed Cambridge PDQs to lead the way in enriching professional learning in our school. These qualifications are based on research evidence about the kinds of professional development that have real impact and value on student success. SBS guarantees quality assurance in the delivery of the Cambridge Curriculum given the rigorous training teachers undergo yearly.

SAT Centre

SBS supports students in their journey beyond secondary school. We are a test centre for the standardized SAT Assessments widely used for college admissions in the United States.

PATH TO TOP UNIVERSITIES

SBS meets Thailand’s academic standards, develops bilingual students and follows the curriculum for Cambridge’s IGCSE and AS/A Level. This approach allows your child to pursue a bright future in Thailand’s top national universities or attend a leading university abroad.
