Mrs. Gammoh's Kindergarten

I cannot believe that we are in our final month of school! I had an amazing year with your wonderful kiddies!! They have learned so much and have grown. Please stop by to see our end of the year bulletin board that is hanging outside of our classroom.

Summer work packets have been sent home with your child. Although not mandatory, the work is great reinforcement to better prepare them for First Grade.

Also, Field Day is on June 8th. We are looking for volunteers to come in and help on that day. If you can volunteer, please e-mail asap. More information and a reminder will be sent home.

Fourth Marking Period report cards will be accessible in the parent portal on June 19th at 3:00.

Our end of the year party is going to be held on Wednesday, June 20th at 11:00. Everyone is welcome to attend. More information will be sent home about it.

We started our "Read to Self" and the students are working on building STAMINA by reading the pictures, reading the words and sometimes retelling the story. We are going over reading strategies and the children are really doing well with this! Notices will be going home when your child needs to swap their books out. We are up to 15 minutes of building STAMINA!

Your child will also be getting a Language Arts and math homework mostly each and every night. Please make sure that you are monitoring their work and checking it over. Also, please practice the trick words as well as part of their homework routine. Please remember to help your child develop good study habits by providing a quiet spot for homework each night. Please also read with your child and have them go on the Raz Kids program if they have not done so already. *** PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT ALL HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS ARE SIGNED AND CHECKED.

These are the trick words learned so far: I, the, my, is, a, like, to, here, go, come, said, and, do, this, of, see, you, he, we, she, they, look , for, was, want, has, where, little, me, be, play, with, want, down, or, from, out, who, there, goes, good, give, saw, have, that, our, all, put, some, how, does, why, any, use, his, her

Please practice number words with your children as well: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, zero.

The children will be going outside for recess everyday unless it is raining or extremely cold. Please keep this in mind when helping your child select clothing for the day. Feel free to leave an extra jacket/sweatshirt in your child's cubby labeled incase the temperature fluctuates outside and inside too : )

Please also remember to review the classroom rules with your children daily and remind them to make good choices in the classroom. We are preparing them for first grade!

I truly welcome and expect to have a very close relationship with my students and parents. To that end, I am providing contact information, which will include my e-mail address in order for the parents to have access to me. As such, I am looking forward to an exciting educational year where ALL students will succeed.

Thank you!

Laura Gammoh
