Teachers are also participating in sessions that address targeted instruction through writing conferences that individualize instruction.

Washington School:

Teachers are finishing the Creative Curriculum unit on clothing by inviting parents who wear uniforms to work come in and speak to the classes about their jobs and their uniforms. During the month of February we have a police officer, two lab techs, a nurse, a referee, two dentists, and a chef coming to share with the classes. The clothing unit will end with a fashion show!

Ms. Erica (OT) and Ms. Lakeya (SLP) completed an integrated cozy heart lesson with each of the classes that focused on motor coordination and language development. Ms. Lakeya emphasized questioning and answering skills. They discussed Valentine’s Day and how to show someone that you care. The final product was a yarn heart that the students took home to give to a family member.

In celebration of World Read Aloud Day, each of our elementary students were read, Just Ask!: Be Different, Be Brave, Be You, authored by Sonia Sotomayor. Here is a video that shows how each school shared this story to create a schoolwide display highlighting our differences.
