The Basics
This is a short narrative film about a little girl named FeiFei in Wales. Her mom works at a restaurant, and one day, FeiFei's fish dies. Her mom tells her her fish has become a dragon, but FeiFei doesn't believe her. She decides to get herself a new fish and goes to the fish store. The owner says he doesn't have any live fish and tells her to go to the ocean. She walks all the way there, passing a table of men talking about the bioluminescence. By the time she gets to the ocean, it's night, and she thinks the bioluminescence is magic, believing her mom's story.
The Good News
I really enjoyed this film! I thought it was super immersive and told a sweet story about folktales and a mother-daughter relationship. It was very nice that it had built in English subtitles as well.
Bad News
I think it could’ve been longer for sure. I was very invested in the story and was disappointed when it ended. I was disappointed we didn't dive deeper into the folklore as well.
The Verdict
I would give this film a 9.5 out of ten. I really enjoyed it and thought it was a super sweet story! I would recommend this film to anyone in the mood for a short and touching film.
