This short, called “She Chose War,” follows a Ukrainian girl named Nelli who is 20 years old. Where her life did a full 360 from going to University and doing theater, now she has a machine gun in her hand in the middle of a war. She didn't intend to join, but she was volunteering to help soldiers and got recruited. She was recruited specifically as a mortarman; this job requires strength and courage. Overall, this piece beautifully captures the way she got stuck, but is still very human.
The viewers should learn from this documentary that wars don't only affect important people. For example, the president or government, but more importantly, the people who are losing their homes and lives. The story of Nelli shows that a normal student who goes to school and has a safe home to go back to can be changed in matters of hours.
This documentary shows us a compelling story about the Ukrainian and Russian war. It explains it with a down-to-earth girl who got sucked into this war.
This film will be most enjoyed by everyone. It isn't graphic but still shows how war affects everyone. We recommend this film.
Altogether we rate this film a 9.5/10.
