Hamnet dives into the raw emotion and complexities of motherhood, while spinning a tale about the inspiration of one of Shakespeare’s iconic plays, Hamlet. (In those days, the two names were interchangeable.) The film follows Agnes, the wife of the playwright and mother of the child, Hamnet, in her ties with nature, and the grief that clings to her, showing how even from the depths of despair, something beautiful can bloom.
We thought Hamnet was absolutely amazing, and came out of the theater crying. The storytelling shone through, and the incredible scoring made this movie one of the best we’ve seen this year.
We give this a very very deserved 10/10.
