Latent memories peel back the past

A shroud of snow

Its desolate beauty

Profound silence saturates the mind

Jarred only by the drag of industry

 A weary Sun peers through

Enveloping mist

A trace shift of light

Endured shade dissipates

A glance of sunrise

Another dawn

 A ghost train lost to time

Transported down the line

Centuries collide

Subversion of time and place

Reaching beyond boundaries

 Wisdom is dying

As it bleeds into the tired route of tradition

 A pathway to sanity

Clutching at shadows

Clear-cut distinctions

Blur contrived assumptions

Past and future ceaselessly overlaid

Crossing over as pedestrians on a busy road

 Seeping into the bones 

Of youth’s crushed ambition

Graffitied walls

Echo ancestral calls

 Malignant austerity

Withers on investigation

An unremitting loss of truth

Tunnel vision ends in light

 Mistakes repeated 

Eternal complacency recycled

Aged sacrifice, deleted

 A stream of ideas

The ripple effect

Mirrored in the river’s progress

Wave over wave

Outbreaks on the shore

Undercurrents of unrest

Refreshing vigour

Replenishing rigour 

Brooking no resistance

The reckoning arrives

 Exciting the senses of retreated lives

 Summer strikes the eye

Seeing the point of visual wonders

Wild flock spreads with ease

 The wire bird’s rusted gaze

Stares in envy

 Rekindling warm words

And the avid rush of upheaval 

Bridging continents

Making a rare jump

Towards freedom

 Seasoned earth will turn

Another Spring rising will come.
