Sound Stories is a compilation album by MA Music students of 2020, at the University of the West of Scotland. This is the first release from the newly established label, Damfino Records. Students from Songwriting, Sound Production, Music Industries collaborated on this release.
Songwriters of the West, a planned gathering of songwriters, and initially a live music event featuring local songwriters, takes its influences from the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee where the likes of Taylor Swift took to the stage for the first time. The live event format includes a songwriter's circle where the musicians talk about their creations and deliver an intimate performance of them.
The show would have featured contributions from Alix Apples, Hevonfilm, Marianne Mandy, Olivia Mae Graham, Martina Corsini, Jason Sweeney, Melisa Kelly and David Scott. The event was originally to be held in the Dam Music Venue, on the 25th March in Glasgow with a capacity of around one hundred. Following social distancing guidance, due to the COVID -19 outbreak, this event was held online on the 27th March.
"Being this year's scholar has also been a huge confidence boost in my writing, and it has encouraged me to continue to experiment with sound, form and concept. " - Alix Adair
