Social Emotional Learning

What is Social Emotional Learning (SEL)?

Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions (casel.org.)

Shandin Hills Middle School is committed to Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Every teacher at every grade level conducts SEL lessons weekly. Additionally, counselors conduct guidance lessons. Supplementary support is provided to students through small group lessons and individual counseling. We will continue our SEL implementation through distance learning.
