How to report an absence?

You may also call the school at 909-880-6666 and leave a message. Please be sure to leave your student's full name and last name, reason and date for absence and a contact number in case we need to call you back.

  • Parents/guardians have 5 days school days from the day of the absence to report the absence.

*Illness related absences, it is the parents'/guardian’s responsibility to provide the attendance office with written verification by doctor/medical advisor.

What is Chronic Absenteeism?

Chronic Absenteeism happens when a student misses 10% or more of the school year for Any reason – this includes excused and unexcused absences.

This means your student is chronically absent if your student has

2 absences in a month-20 school days 4 absences in two months-40 school days

6 absences in three months-60 school days 8 absences in four months-80 school days

10 absences in five months-100 school days 12 absences in six months-120 school days

14 absences in seven months-140 school days 16 absences in eight months-160 school days

18 absences in 9 months-180 school days

The law says...

All children between the ages of 6 and 18 must attend school. Ed Code 48260 classifies a student as truant if the student is absent from school three full days.

Educational neglect refers to a parent failing to provide for their child's basic needs with regard to schooling and education. It is a legal term often used in a family law context.

*Parents may be reported to CPS should they fail to ensure their student attends school as it may be considered educational neglect.
