Spartan Athletics Mission Statement:

It is the mission of S.G.H.S. Athletics to work together as an athletic community in creating a positive and competitive environment that emphasizes the intellectual, physical, social, and moral development of our Spartan student-athletes in order to prepare them in becoming active, productive, respectful, and successful citizens in our society.

About Our Athletic Director: Matthew Maeda

Coach Maeda is an alumnus of San Gorgonio High School and returned to teach and coach at SGHS in 1991.  For 12 years, he taught math and science classes while coaching girls' soccer.  He also was our ASB Advisor, Math Department Chair, AP Calculus teacher, and baseball coach for various years.  He has been our Athletic Director since the summer of 2003.

Coach Maeda is actively involved at the CIF-SS level and in the Citrus Belt Area Athletic Directors' Association (CBAADA).  He is currently serving for CIF-SS on the Executive Committee as the Boys' Athletic Director Representative and is also on the Soccer Advisory Committee and the Athletic Administrators' Committee.  He has served on the CBAADA Board for the past 16 years in multiple positions including treasurer, president-elect, president, past president, sportsmanship committee and officials' committee.

About Our Athletic Trainer: Denise Robertson

Denise is the... certified athletic trainer located in D—... She is present at every sporting event in case of injuries and also on campus to provide further care for injuries. 

About Our Athletic Clerk: Erika Ulloa

Erika is the athletic clerk in room D-6. She has worked for SBCUSD for four years and joined the Spartan athletic team this year. She is here to receive all athletic paperwork and answer questions regarding sports clearances.

All students must complete an athletic packet that includes a physical form, insurance affidavit, and online clearance form.
