Words have the power to make, break, or change us. A simple phrase reminds us to persevere; harsh words from a friend can upset us; powerful speeches have moved people towards action.
Write an informative writing piece explaining the lessons that books can teach us.
In many cultures, the power of words are seen through stories that have been passed down from generation to generation. These words, perhaps even in our home language, can connect us to our roots, inspire us, and even teach us a lesson. Write an informative writing piece explaining how a character draws inspiration from the world around them, their family, and/or their culture.
Harvard Professor Ellen Langer states, "Once you've seen there is another perspective, you can never not see that there's another point of view." Using one or more characters from a narrative, write an essay explaining the importance of being able to see a situation from another person's point of view.
