Volleyball practice is essential for several reasons, especially for a team like ours that is aiming for success. Here’s why it’s so important:
Skill Development: Consistent practice helps players improve fundamental skills like serving, passing, setting, hitting, and blocking. Mastery of these techniques requires repetition and refinement over time.
Team Chemistry: Volleyball is a team sport that relies heavily on coordination and communication. Practice builds trust and understanding among teammates, which is vital for smooth gameplay during matches.
Strategy and Tactics: Every practice session is an opportunity to work on team strategies, such as offensive plays, defensive formations, and how to adjust to different opponents. This tactical work helps your team adapt and stay competitive.
Physical Fitness: Volleyball demands endurance, agility, and strength. Regular practice helps players stay in peak physical condition, improving reaction times, jumping ability, and overall stamina.
Mental Toughness: Practices simulate game scenarios, helping players develop focus, concentration, and resilience. Learning to stay calm under pressure during practice prepares you for the high-stakes moments in actual games.
Confidence: As players improve their skills and work well as a team, their confidence grows. This confidence translates into better performance during games and helps reduce game-day nerves.
In short, volleyball practice is crucial for personal improvement, team success, and building the mental and physical endurance needed to excel on the court.
We practice every day during 6th period and after school. Practices will conclude most afternoons around 4:45.
Here is a link to our 2024-25 season schedule:
We field teams at three different levels (Frosh/Soph, Junior Varsity, and Varsity). During Home matches, those three levels play in succession with Frosh/Soph beginning at 3:00, JV at approximately 4:00, and Varsity at approximately 5:15. Expect home matches to last until approximately 7:00. Away matches vary according to the school and their facilities. Matches maked as SPLIT on the schedule indicate they play their Frosh/Soph and JV matches at the same time on separate courts, followed by the Varsity match. Expect athletes to return to school at approximately 7:30.
Athletes may not be released early without written excuse submitted at the practice prior to the match.
Since the goal of this team is to strive for excellence, keep the following things in mind:
Grade Expectation
All athletes are expected to maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. As a regular part of season, beginning with the tryout process and continuing throughout playoffs, grades will be checked for all participants. Students who are ineligible at any point during the season will be cut from the team.
Behavioral Expectation
When you are part of the team, you represent not only yourself but also your family, your teammates and coaches, and your school. All athletes will be required to read and sign the Volleyball Behavioral Contract.
