This is my 29th year of teaching in SAUSD, and 15th year of teaching at Middle College High School.
English 10 is a one-year course that focuses on reading and analyzing fiction and nonfiction. The course provides practice with the writing process that emphasizes: prewriting, drafting, sharing and responding, revising, editing, and publishing. Students respond to texts through speaking and writing, supporting their ideas with evidence. The writing component of the course will include multiple literary analysis essays and argumentative essays. The ultimate goal of English 10 is to prepare students to be better writers, readers, and thinkers and to prepare them for college and beyond.
Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is an in-school academic support program for grades seven through twelve. The purpose of the program is to prepare students for college eligibility and success.
