Mission and Vision Statement

For the counseling department

For the counseling department

Role of a School Counselor

Classroom Lessons

We visit each classroom multiple times throughout the school year and have the chance to interact with every student during these lessons.

The lessons are provided through an evidence-based Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Program called Second Step for grades TK - 8th. And we use CCGI - California Colleges for Grades 6th - 8th

Small Group Counseling

A variety of small groups are offered to students who may benefit from spending some extra time developing academic, social, or emotional skills along with their peers, and to students who are coping with similar life situations. Groups can have anywhere from 3-12 members and usually meet once a week, for 6-8 weeks.

Individual Counseling

Some students can benefit from one-on-one counseling regarding academic, social, or emotional challenges.

This counseling sessions are not therapy session and work on students coping and management skills.

Community Resources

There are many local and national programs available to help with basic necessities and to ensure that all children have access to food while schools are closed.

Santa Ana Unified will be providing free "Grab and Go" meals for students.

Educational Resources

In addition to the resources provided by Portland Public Schools, many educational websites are offering free services to help students and parents with remote learning.
