The Library's program and resources are designed to support the curriculum. During scheduled Library classes, students will learn about library and research skills, as well as an appreciation of all media. Lessons for all grades will work towards building responsible library users with a lifelong love of reading and learning.
Students will be using Google Classroom throughout the year, as well as, Destiny. This is a search tool to look up books in the library.
Students may visit the Library for book exchange during their scheduled library days or on mornings between 8:30 am and 9:50 am.
Classroom rules/expectations:
***Students should enter the library quietly, and follow classroom rules that are posted clearly in the library.
***Please talk quietly, be respectful, keep hands and feet to yourself, no running, treat all with respect.
***A student's library materials are to be returned during the student's next library class. Students are not permitted to borrow additional library items until all overdue material is returned. Students will receive reminder notices if books are not returned on time.
***All students are encouraged to return books the following library class.
Kindergarten students may take out one book.
Grade 1 Students may take out two books.
Grades 2-6 students may take out three books.
***To minimize the occurrence of lost/damaged books, it is helpful to have your child pick a safe spot away from pets, younger siblings, food and water. Keeping materials in a plastic bag or in a separate part of their backpack is also a great way to keep items safe. Damaged books requiring replacement need to be paid for to maintain uninterrupted borrowing privileges. For those that are lost, we ask that you contact the library, so we can adjust the library inventory, as needed.
