Jackson Grammar School After-School Programming 2022-23: Spring 2023

~ Please check your child’s activity or activities

Goals:

JGS After-School Programming provides academic, technical, creative, physical and social enrichment opportunities to JGS students. The components of the program are designed to provide students with the opportunity to engage in learning activities that may not be available during school hours. Our offerings and activities change per session and season and may be modified at any time to best suit the needs of our students. This programming includes Soccer, Nordic Skiing, and all sessions of After-School Enrichment.

Enrollment:

Registration forms will be available one to two weeks prior to the start of a new program or session. Space is limited for some programs,  therefore students will be enrolled on a first come-first serve basis. Students may attend the program once completed registration forms and payment (if there is a fee) are returned to Miss Susan.

Fees:

There are no fees for soccer. Nordic skiing fees will vary depending on equipment rentals.

After-School Enrichment fees are on a sliding scale, with full pay at the rate of $10 a day per child. No child will be turned away for inability to pay, so please contact Mrs. D at g_dembowski@sau9.org for more information about the sliding scale fees. Please make checks payable to JGS.

Illness Policy:

If an after-school program participant becomes ill, a parent or authorized person will be called to pick up the child. If a child is absent from school, or leaves school early due to sickness, they may not participate that day.

Emergency/Health Information:

Parents are asked to provide important contact information on the registration form such as cell phone number and any health concerns or allergies the child has. It is up to the parents to notify the program of any changes in health and/or emergency contact information.

Location:

The Soccer Program takes place on the town field and at the Snowflake Inn’s Triangle field. After-School Enrichment begins at JGS immediately after school. Activities take place throughout the school building, school grounds (i.e. Whitney Center, playground) and in the village. After School Nordic will launch from JGS to Jackson Ski Touring Foundation (Jackson XC) and students will ski on JSTF trails.

Hours:

Programs are not open on days that school is closed, including holidays, teacher workshop days and early release days. Inclement weather can also cause unscheduled closings. The Soccer Program runs until 4:30 for the youngest players, 4:45 for older players, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and assorted game days, times TBD. After-School Enrichment pick up is at 4:45 at JGS. Nordic pick up is at 4:30 at Jackson XC.

Pick Up Policy:

Please be on time to pick up your child. If you are going to be late because of an emergency, please notify the instructor or coordinator. Parents are required to pick their children up promptly at the end of each day’s activity. We will not release your child to anyone who is not on your authorized list. Please contact the school office with changes in who’s picking up your child. When parking to pick up your child from an activity at or near JGS, please leave the parking spaces at the Marketplace/PO open for their customers and if the activity is at the town field, please park on the street leaving the fire lane to the pond open.

Discipline Policy:

Students who attend the after-school program are expected to follow school rules in order to maintain a safe and fun environment. We will work closely with you and your child to ensure respectful behavior. If, however, the problem persists, our discipline policy is as follows:

1st infraction: We will confer with your child and inform you at the end of that day’s program.

2nd infraction: Principal and parents are informed, child may be suspended from the program for up to 3 days/practices/games.

3rd infraction: Child will be suspended from the program for the remainder of that session.

Our goal is to provide a fun and enriching experience for our students. We have many adults from the community sharing their skills with us. We expect our students to represent the JGS community in a positive manner and treat these adults with consideration. We ask that you discuss the behavior expectations with your children  to ensure they understand the discipline process in all programs after school.
