Grade 2 Art

Hello parents of second grade artists. Welcome! There are a few housekeeping items that I would like to address as we transition to remote learning: every week your artist will receive a Creative Challenge/Lesson. I will also be notifying your child's homeroom teacher when a Creative Challenge/Lesson has been posted so that they can inform you. It will be a help if you could please e-mail me the completed assignment by or on the day of your child's art class. Reference the list below for your child's homeroom ART DAY. This will allow me to keep an attendance record. Please also feel free to contact me with anything you need or would like to share during my time away from seeing your creative kiddos.

Summer Studio: AT HOME ART SHOW

DO YOU LOVE MAKING ART DISPLAYS AS MUCH AS I DO?

Have you ever made a display of your artwork? Do you have a place where you hang your artwork at home already? Does it go on the refrigerator? If so, SHOW ME THE LOVE! Because now more than ever I am missing your art on the bulletin boards of ACS!

For your SUMMER art challenge I want to see your ART on display! You can display your artwork across an entire wall or just on the refrigerator, but no matter how you do it, the simple act of presenting your artwork is a big deal with lifelong benefits! You will see your creations in a whole new light and perhaps, grow up with a passion for art making. Not to mention the fond memories of making your special drawings and paintings and having your art exhibited for all your family and friends to see when they come to visit!

INSTRUCTIONS:

There are so many creative ways to display your artwork - you can simply get started with some tape or make it more of a project using things like, string, thumbtacks, clothespins or old frames.

1. Make a display of some of your favorite art that you have at home. You can make your display anyway you want!

2. Have a family member take a picture of you and your art display:) SMILE!

3. Share your photo by emailing it to me at awoods@sau72.org I will then create a slideshow and add it to my Google site! You can then share the display that you worked on throughout the summer with your friends when we get back to school in the fall.

Can't wait to see your personal ART SHOW! ~Mrs Woods

Creative Studio #5: Earth Art

A NOTE: This week we are changing it up to honor our beloved mother earth on this Earth Day. We will be revisiting The Museum and Famous Artists after April vacation.

Some days we may feel like this current World crisis is nothing but bad news, but wait, there's a silver lining...

Mother Earth is healing. Pollution levels across the globe are dramatically decreasing as populations across the globe stay home. As fewer drivers make daily commutes, fewer boats take to the waterways and fewer planes take flight, our beautiful planet is getting the much needed break she deserves.

This is a Cause for Celebration!

Help celebrate Earth Day, April 22, 2020 by creating Earth Art!

1. Look at home for materials you can use to make a picture or create a sculpture of the EARTH. You can use art supplies, play dough, recycled materials, etc.

2. Once you have finished your Earth Art, take a picture and email it to me awoods@sau72.org so that I can share it in a slideshow in celebration of Earth Day 2020, today Wednesday, April 22.

3. Have fun, be creative and remember...

The "EARTH" without "ART" is just "EH"
