The dark ages were a period of time that was lacking in many new discoveries. This is referred to as "Dark" because of the supposed backwards way of thinking that was in this time. Historians now refer to it as dark because of the minimal information about that period. The term "dark" was first implying that It was a wrong way of thinking, but now it implies that there is a lack of information from this period.
The term Dark Ages started to catch on in 17th and 18th century. While we call this period the dark ages, it was not all that dark. there were still laws, politics, and culture. There was in fact an elaborate legal system.
The OT map is a map from this period. The O.T. map is separated into three sections, Asia, Europe, and Africa. These sections represent continents. The lines separating the sections are representing the Aegean and Black sea, the Nile and Red sea, and the Mediterranean Sea.
