What is Art?
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, art is a noun meaning "skill acquired by experience, study, or observation". However, art is so much more than that. Art is play. Art is an expression of the self and the surroundings. Art is healing. Art is inclusive. Art is a language. Art is messy. Art is an extension of the self. Art tells stories about where we've been and where we are going. Art is essential to the development of your child because it teaches critical thinking, perseverance, grit, and problem solving, among other crucial skills that will propel them into their successful futures.
So, make art with judgement, and encourage your children to make art without judgement, because it is so much more than a skill.
