What is the goal of the Student Support Team?
It is our goal, in partnership with families and fellow educators, to support the JMUES learning community by providing social, emotional and behavioral assistance through counseling/behavioral support, classroom lessons, and school-wide initiatives. We endeavor to guide students through their transition from three lower elementary schools into a cohesive learning community here at the Upper Elementary School. The Student Support Team works with all students by providing a variety of learning opportunities that promote positive social, emotional, and behavioral skills development.

If my child has a problem, how can he/she meet with us?
Teachers and caregivers can request that we meet with their student when they notice them struggling with a specific issue. Students can request to meet with us by asking us directly or by asking their parent/guardian to contact us, or by asking their teacher for a check-in. We work with stakeholders as needed to provide counseling and behavioral assistance so that students feel supported and are better able to engage in learning and instruction. Please contact the appropriate counselor and/or student support specialist (see directly below for contact information) regarding specific concerns for your child-we want to support you and provide assistance as much as possible!
