Digital Learning Mondays
Spring 2020
Spring 2020
John Stark Regional High School is currently closed due to health risks associated with the Covid-19 or Corona Virus. In order to allow students to continue working toward their academic goals during this time, John Stark's Academic Lead Team has developed the following digital learning resources.
This page is divided into two sections: "Required for All" and "Student Choice". All students need to complete the appropriate items under the "Required for All" section. Once students complete the required items, they will choose learning activities from the "Student Choice" section. Students are expected to spend about four hours each day engaged in academic pursuits. Student work will be tracked using a variety of methods, which are also outlined below. When students return to school, they will share their reflections and products during Advisory.
If you are going to work on getting caught up on your work, here is an easy way to find the assignments that you're missing. This two minute video might save you a lot of time.
All students are expected to:
Complete one hour of reading each Monday (see below)

On Monday, March 30, students are asked to complete a survey related to academics and remote learning during the closure of John Stark. This survey will take you less than five minutes to complete and the results are anonymous. Click here to take the survey. The purpose of this survey is to better understand the student experience during the school closure. The survey will help JSR teachers and administrators learn more about what is working well and what your learning needs are during this difficult time. Because of the rapidly changing situation, we may ask you to complete a similar survey at some point in the near future.
Choice1: "Why fighting the Coronavirus depends on you", which discusses the spread of Covid-19 and the importance of social distancing. (Note: This video has a more formal, scientific tone than the second choice.)
Choice 2: " Global COVID-19 Prevention", an animated video from Stanford Medicine’s that illustrates how the novel coronavirus — the virus that causes the respiratory disease COVID-19 — is transmitted among people and how transmission can be prevented. (Note: This video is animation and music only).
The importance of social distancing: There are some significant concerns that young people do not understand the importance of social distancing, and so may not be cooperating with the intent of what we are all doing. While teachers are welcome to address this issue in any class, Advisors have been asked to do so Monday. Your Advisor will have additional information for you.
