HMS Spirit Week

Monday, February 18 - TAKE CARE of yourself! Fitness Day!

Keep your mind and body fit! Come to school dressed in your favorite workout gear! Today we will be having a Jump Rope Assembly to kick off HMS Spirit Week!

Tuesday, February 19 - IMAGINE! Book Character Day!

What book character would you like to be friends with? Dress as that book character today! If you have the book, bring it in to share with your class. If not, find another favorite book to bring in and share!

Wednesday, February 20 - CONFIDENCE! Future Day!

What do you want to be when you grow up? What college do you want to attend? You can be anything that you want to be, as long as you believe you can do it! Dress up in what your future career may be or show support to a college you would like to attend!

Thursday, February 21 - EMPATHY! PJ/slippers Day!

Wear your favorite slippers (and pajamas) to remember it is important to always have empathy or to “put yourself in someone else’s shoes”. Today we encourage students and teachers to perform a random act of kindness to make someone’s day a little brighter.

Friday, February 22 - RESPECT! HMS Spirit Week

Let’s end HMS Spirit Week with HMS Spirit Day. Wear our HMS colors, green and white, to celebrate our school community by always having each other’s back! Today TIGER returns for a performance of “Brand New Day” (Encouraging young people to be resilient and stand up for others)!

Our class enjoyed "falling in love with a good book" for our next round of literature circles during our book tasting. We also had a fun time during math "Unlocking the Love" with lots of challenging math review!

Our class loved singing "The Helping Verb Song" while Ms. Franciosa played clarinet.

Ask your child about the 40 book challenge! They will be bringing home their notebooks to show you.

After reading Daedalus and Icarus, we participated in a STEM activity and built new wings for Icarus. Many of them were very successful!
