Grade 6: Intro to Performing Arts
Shakespeare and Classic Tales (Qtr. 4)
Just a little bit about me...
I graduated from Emerson College with a masters degree in Theatre Education in 2011, taught music and drama at Hampstead Academy for students in grades PreK-8 from 2011-2016, and prior to that, I worked as the Education Director at The Majestic Theatre. I have directed and choreographed over 30 community theatre and school musical productions (in NH and MA), and have performed in just as many shows since the age of 10. I was lucky enough to be a NH Theatre Awards Top 10 nominee in recent years as a director, choreographer and actress, and honored to have received the "Best Supporting Actress" award for my performance as Anita in the musical "West Side Story" in 2016.
I love to learn as much as I love to teach, and have recently taken music courses with Berklee College of Music Online and have studied voice with various instructors over the past 20 years, some of which have included Noel Smith, Janice Edwards, Dan Perkins and Sandi Bedrosian, and have had the opportunity to sing with the Boston Pops and for the Manchester Monarchs, Boston Red Sox and Celtics.
In my not-so-free 'free' time, I love singing and playing piano with my 7-year-old daughter while also improvising songs and scenes with her surrounding whatever theme she choses (which tend to turn into abstract fairytales!). We also love to challenge my husband in card games and connect four and win...sometimes, but not often! Family time is a lot of fun!
I truly enjoy working alongside students to create an environment where they can explore their talents and interests in the world of the performing arts, and I'm so excited for my third year with the Cawley Middle School Students and Teachers!
