Class Info

Supplies

You should bring the following items to class every day:

  • Pencils
  • Erasers
  • Personal pencil sharpener
  • Math binder with loose-leaf paper and document protectors
  • Dry erase (whiteboard) markers

Grading

You can stay up-to-date on your current grade by checking PowerSchool. All of your grades will fall into the following categories and are weighted accordingly:

  • Tests - 40%
  • Quizzes and Projects - 30%
  • Classwork - 20%
  • Homework - 10%

Homework

Curriculum related homework will be assigned as needed. Typically you will complete two to three homework assignments per week. Assignments will be posted in the classroom and on the website. Unless stated otherwise, homework is due the day after it is assigned.

In addition to curriculum-related homework, each Monday students will be given a 5-A-Day which will be completed and turned in on the following Monday. 5-A-Days are used to review (for you) and preview (for me) math topics and will be completed both during class and as a homework assignment, depending on the week.

Request to Retest

If you earned a test score of a 89% or below and would like to try again you can request to retest. Here is what you need to do:

1.) Fill out a Request to Retest within three days of receiving your test results. A Request to Retest will require you to determine a plan before you retake the assessment.

2.) Complete all assignments from the corresponding chapter.

3.) Develop a plan to relearn the material and receive approval from Mrs. Chivers to schedule a date to retest.

When you retake the test, you will be allowed to try all the problems that you originally got incorrect (Note: the retake will be different from the original, but you need to retry corresponding problems). Your new score will replace the original score. The maximum you will be allowed to earn is a 90%.
