Absences Please report absences via the link provided. You may also send me an email as needed. Long term absences and long term parent absences must be reported. One legal guardian must always be present in Singapore.
We will celebrate birthdays in our class AFTER lunch at 1:05. If you order from Mr. Hoe, please have items delivered before 1:00 pm. If your child had a recent birthday and you would like to send in treats, please let me know ASAP the date you would like to do this.
Please note that the treats must be individually wrapped and ready to serve.
We have 22 students (2 adults if you want to include us. I don't eat wheat gluten due to food sensitivity rash).
Please note that treats must be individually wrapped.
If your child has additional allergies or other dietary restrictions, please let me know ASAP so I can communicate with the rest of the class.
If you prefer to keep treats in class for students with serious allergies or for religious/personal reasons let me know. I've had students keep a small bag of candy in one of the cupboards for these occasions.
CHECKING OUT BOOKS
G5 students will be allowed to check out up to 5 books at one time and keep their books for up to two weeks. Students may only renew a book once. Ms. Kingsbury requires you check out every Tuesday: one novel (any genre), one non-fiction book, and ONLY ONE graphic novel. The rest of the books are student's free choice.
HOLDS
Holds provide the option for students that have missed their scheduled time to get materials. It is also very useful for students reading in a series needing a book before their next scheduled library class. Students may request books by logging into their Follett account and placing a hold. We will do our best to fill these requests as soon as possible subject to staff availability.
The only materials that cannot be placed on hold are graphic novels. There's an extremely high demand and circulation turn around for these items.
RETURNING BOOKS
Grade 4 and 5 students may return books on their way to their classrooms in the morning and on their way home at the end of the day. Book return bins are located just inside the library doors for a quick drop off.
On WEDNESDAY only, we will collect books in class and return them to the library. Please put them in the basket on Tuesday morning in order to ensure all books are returned prior to the class visit that day.
