Professional Cookery

City and Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery plus Level 2 Certificate in Food Hygiene

Entry Criteria: Four subjects at Grade 4 or above, including Grade 4 or above in a Food Technology-related subject, or relevant experience

Students will need to pay for thier ingredients for the course, the value of which is £180 in Year 12 and £150 in Year 13. Additionally, students will need to buy safety shoes at a cost of £30. Our means-tested bursary can help pay for this.


What is Professional Cookery?

This exciting course is a job ready qualification, and has been developed for our students, based on practical cooking skills.

This qualification aims to release your creativity, whilst developing your knowledge, understanding and skills to work in a professional cooking environment.

This qualification is for you if you are 16 or over and are working towards becoming a chef in a professional kitchen.

This qualification is designed to help you enter employment with higher level of responsibility or at a more prestigious establishment.

What will I study in Professional Cookery?

This qualification will help you develop skills and techniques to produce dishes, enabling you to undertake a variety of roles within a kitchen.

This qualification is structured to enable you to work with a wide range of commodities in the preparation, cooking and presentation of dishes in a professional kitchen.

Where will Professional Cookery take me?
