Optional in Year 13: Extended Project Qualification (AQA)
Entry Criteria: Four subjects at Grade 4 or above, Grade 5 in or above English
Equivilent to 0.5 A-Level, and is an addition to students' current subjects
The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is worth half an A Level. It is an opportunity to do a project in a subject area you are interested in.
It provides a context for developing critical thinking and project management skills, which are widely transferable and will help
you become a more confident student other areas of study.
This is an independently conducted research project. The choice of project is up to you as an individual, and can be related to your courses or your personal interests.
It utilises a lot of the study skills required of you at university, alongside gaining experience of reporting regularly to a supervisor.

The EPQ assesses your ability to plan, carry out, report on and evaluate a project.
The project will then be supported by other evidence, including a production log and presentation.
Completing this project means that you will have gained experience of what will be required of you post 18.
The EPQ is an equivalent to half an A Level and is worth UCAS points.
The EPQ adds real strength to a university application, though the skills acquired will be useful for you whether you plan to attend university or enter the world of work.
