A Message from Mrs O'Hare

Dear Parents and Carers,

Winter and the start of the festive season is inching ever closer, with plans in place for a Virtual Nativity and orders being taken for Christmas Puddings. As the colder weather arrives, please make sure children come to school with a warm outdoor coat. They may also wish to bring a hat, gloves and a scarf for particularly chilly days.

With Christmas on the way, don't forget to order your Christmas Pudding - see the SPA News below for all the details. The order deadline for puddings and tea towels is today. You can purchase these, along with other Christmas gifts, via the Parentmail Shop. The deadline for School Christmas Lunch is also fast approaching, orders must be made online by next Thursday 26th November.

We hope you all have a restful and enjoyable weekend.

Warmest regards,

Mrs O’Hare

Head of School

Gold Book

Reception

We would like to nominate Stirling for Gold Book this week. He showed determination and perseverance to complete his collage poppy. Great attitude towards this activity - well done Stirling!

Year 1

The Year One gold book entry this week goes to Frank for excellent all round progress. Frank tries his best in all his lessons and is making steady progress with his writing and maths skills. He is very well behaved and polite and is a good role model for his peers. He is usually the one to say thank you first and reminds his classmates to do likewise! keep up the good work Frank and very well done!

Year 2

To coin a popular phrase Savanna was 'on fire' in maths this week. We were exploring cherry and bar models to understand part and whole. Savanna independently created four calculations from the numbers. Well done Savanna!

Orla has created a superb instructions booklet, using imperative verbs, adverbs, expanded noun phrases and clear explanations. A pleasure to read!

Year 3

In Year 3, our Scrumdiddlyumptious Topic has continued, allowing us to explore different types of food. We have moved into sweeter varieties of treats, resulting in much excitement when we were able to see the inside of a jelly bean factory and realise that the process for us to enjoy a moment of sugary goodness; it takes four days, lots of sugar and even a sprinkling wax! We were then able to consider the designs of our favourite sweetie wrappers and discuss why they are designed in such bright, enticing ways but also why they require so much information on the packaging.

Subsequently, we were able to design our own brand of sweet. Complete with slogan and catchy advertising campaign.

Millie Taylor is our Gold Book Entry this week as her sweet wrapper design and campaign, involving collectible figures found in each packet along with interchangeable costumes, was original and made Year 3s' mouths water. Millie's sweets are called Gummy Melons and with a slogan like, 'Super Gummy it will fill your tummy,' what's not to love about these naughty treats. Mille and a few other children have now decided they want to open a sweet factory and become their own Willie Wonkas.

Millie is also in our Gold Book this week for being such an attentive Year 3 student. Millie loves to contribute her ideas and share them with the class, often showing us her incredible imagination for creative ideas. Millie is also a superb, considerate table partner, aiding students with their spelling and understanding, then quietly continuing to her own work.

We all look forward to visiting Millie's Gummy Melon factory in a few years time, I am sure all will be welcome.

Year 4

This week, everyone in Year 4 has been working hard to create poems which capture the magic of the deepest oceans of our world. It has been wonderful to read all of the different ideas and images across the classroom as every child seeks to build pictures for us to read. All of them are amazing. However, Ivy's stands out and demands to be shared. She has listened carefully to all the language we have explored as well as using features of the poem we explored, such as alliteration and imagery. Well done, Ivy. Keep up the good work!

Year 5

I have chosen to put Ava and Daisy in the gold book after their wonderful performance as an interview panel this week. They were interviewing Beowulf to find out if he was the hero who could put an end to the people of Heorot's twelve year long suffering at the hands of a 'fatal fiend of the darkness'. They asked some excellent questions in a very professional manner, giving their interviewee plenty of opportunities to show their skills and strengths. Well done girls!

Year 6

Our Gold Book entry is Will. He's working incredibly hard in his lessons and demonstrating the mature attitude we expect in Year 6. Will's enthusiasm for his learning, particularly in his times tables, is wonderful to see. Keep it up!

Special Mention

A big thank you to Felix in Year 2 who was spotted being very helpful on his way to school by Mrs Pinner. He saw that our 'Think Before You Park' signs had fallen over so he stopped to pick them up. She later spotted him also being a very kind big brother while walking out of school.

Well done Felix - little acts of kindness do not go unnoticed!
