Course Description

Welcome to AP English Literature and Composition, a course that prepares you for the AP English Literature and Composition Exam, administered by the College Board. High scores on the AP exam may translate to college credit. This course will guide you through the reading and analysis of college-level fiction, drama, and poetry. You will examine how an author creates meaning through literary, dramatic, and poetic techniques and strategies. Practice essays and multiple-choice exams will test your understanding of the material. Additionally, you will demonstrate your thoughtful interaction with the literature through responding to journal questions, completing dialectical journal entries, composing a variety of essays, and collaborating with other AP English Literature and Composition students.
