The Viking Tutoring Center is open in the LJHS Library Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays after school from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm. A late bus is available at 5pm. Please refer to our weekly schedule (posted above) to see which days offer specific subject areas.Â
Our mission at the Viking Tutoring Center is to foster a safe and welcoming environment for students to get additional academic support.Â
We provide after school tutoring assistance through teacher and student tutors in the majority of subjects. Additionally, students can use the space as a study hall. They can also speak to their teachers about using the space to retake an exam or utilize their IEP/504 extended time services (proctored by the teachers at the tutoring center).
Students are expected to be respectful of their teachers and peers at all times. Your tutors aren't mind readers, so please advocate to a teacher or student tutor about what subject you need assistance with. If a student is disruptive, loud, or distracting in a way that prevents a positive learning environment, they will be asked to leave. All are expected to keep the library clean and organized. If tables were moved or materials/books were used, please return them to their original locations.Â
ALL STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT USING OUR 5-STAR SYSTEM
Please reach out to Kara Sweeney with any questions/concerns.
