Clairemont High School's Circle of Friends program began hosting the Unified Games in 2018. The intention of Unified Games is to provide incredible inclusive opportunities for students with special needs to team up with varsity athletes to compete in an environment marked by encouragement, belonging, and joy from the presence of the CHS student body, community members, and families. Students in the Circle of Friends program, peer tutors, varsity athletes prepare for the games for weeks during inclusive PE and weekly Circle of Friends meetings. The production of the Unified Games begins with students individually being introduced along with the walk out song of their choice, an inclusive game for each student to have their moment to shine, and concludes with a medal ceremony to celebrate the success of all participants. The Unified Games provide a platform to display the inclusive environment, respect, and genuine connection between our students with various abilities at Clairemont High.
