During the fall semester, the CHS Site Governance Team reviewed the school's Dress Code. After gathering input from a variety of stakeholders, including students, staff, and parents, the SGT made a number of revisions to the Dress Code. The updated Dress Code will go into effect on Monday, January 24 at the start of the second semester. Please see Clairemont's new Dress Code below:
Clairemont High School believes that the primary responsibility for a student’s attire resides with the student and parent/guardian. The school and district are responsible for seeing that student attire does not interfere with the health or safety of any students, and that student attire supports a purposeful academic learning environment.
In addition, as a Linked Learning Demonstration site, the academic program at Clairemont High School centers on preparing students for work-based learning experiences (i.e., Mock Interviews, Job Shadowing, Guest Speakers, Mentor Program, and Internship Program). As a result, student attire should foster a sense of professional confidence and support students in being focused and ready for the demands of work-based learning experiences.
STUDENTS MUST WEAR:
Bottoms such as pants, sweatpants, shorts, skirts, dresses, or leggings
Shirts with sleeves or shoulder straps that cover the entire torso
Footwear (* for student safety, athletic shoes are required for PE and sports participation)
Student ID to be visible at all times during regular school hours while on campus
STUDENTS MAY WEAR:
Religious headwear at any time
Hoodie sweatshirts (no hoods in class)
Leggings, as long as they are of a completely non see through material
Ripped jeans, as long as underwear and buttocks are not exposed
Hats and sunglasses outdoors during passing periods, at lunch, and at teacher discretion indoors
STUDENTS MAY NOT WEAR:
Violent images or language
Images or language depicting or advertising drugs or alcohol (or any illegal item or activity)
Profanity, sexually explicit images, or pornography
Images or language that creates an intimidating environment (such as gang related images or language)
Visible underwear
Beachwear (including bathing suits and tube tops)
Sleepwear (including pajamas, robes, and/or slippers)
Helmets or headgear that obscures the face (except as a religious observance)
SPECIAL EVENTS:
On certain special occasions, students may be asked to “Dress to Impress” in professional or business casual attire for school sponsored events such as Mock Interviews, Mentor Meetings, Fieldtrips, Job Shadows, and Internships. To support students, Clairemont High does an annual Professional Clothing Drive where industry and community partners donate professional clothing that students can choose to take home and keep for free.
Students not wearing appropriate school attire will be required to change into school issued t-shirts or shorts/sweats or may be required to adjust apparel accordingly. Parents may be contacted to provide students with appropriate attire. Borrowed clothing needs to be returned at the end of the school day and students will be given their clothing back to take home. Any further incidents could be subject to administrative disciplinary actions
Due to observance of the MLK Jr. Day holiday, there will be no onsite Covid testing on Monday, January 17. Instead, for this week only, CHS will provide makeup testing on Thursday, January 20 from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Students and families who are interested in additional testing sites may find this information on the District's Covid-19 Testing page by clicking on the link below.

Starting this week, CHS Librarian, Alison Manning will start collecting all materials used during the first semester. This includes textbooks, library books, class novels and calculators. If students need their materials for finals, they may return them after their finals. For those students who no longer need their checked out materials, they may begin returning them now.
Check out the BRAND NEW CHS CLUBS PAGE to find information on the Clubs at CHS. The page is designed to let clubs share the purpose of their club, the meeting day, time, and location, as well as contact information for the club advisor and president.
The Senior Website will be kept up to date with all things Senior so be sure to check it out and bookmark it.
The first semester of the 2021-2022 school ends on Friday, January 21. As a friendly reminder, CHS will be following our Finals Day Schedule on Thursday, January 20 and Friday, January 21. On those days, school will let out at 2:35 pm. The bus schedule has also been adjusted for those days and will be departing campus at 2:45 pm. For a complete list of all Late-In and Finals Day Schedule dates, please see our 2021-2022 Bell Schedule.
Calling all music lovers! After much thought and district guidance, the CHS band has decided to move its concertOUTSIDE! You read that right, a Concert in the Park, a Concert al Fresco. We will be performing our concert as planned, just in the Lunch Quad instead of the auditorium. Come join us for some fresh air, beautiful music, and a celebration of the achievements these students have made. See you then!
The CHS Winter Formal is scheduled for Saturday, February 5th from 6:00 - 10:00 pm. The event will take place at the Quartyard located at 1301 Market St., San Diego, CA 92101. The theme this year is Alice in Wonderland. Tickets will be on sale soon.
Electives are an important part of the high school experience. They provide students the opportunity to explore their their passions, discover new interests, narrow down the subjects they’re not that interested in, and get the most out of their educational experience. With the articulation process right around the corner, students will begin selecting the courses they would like to take next school year. In an effort to learn more about all the electives CHS has to offer, Mr. Sparks's Video Production students created the following website. Be sure to check it out!
