SHOUT OUTS!

CHS Garden Club

We are finding great success with our Cafe to Compost program, so if anyone wants to bring in veggie waste from home we can turn it into great soil for the garden.

We are hosting a Spring Clean-up Day in the garden on Saturday, March 23rd (if you participate you can clear up to 9 unexcused attendance and tardies)

Students who want to make up tardies can work in the garden any day after school (every 15 min clears 1 tardy)

We are always looking for other campus beautification projects to take on.

See Mr. Fletcher anytime with ideas or to volunteer in room 103.

ATHLETICS

Beyond The Scoreboard

CHS is excited to announce our new "Beyond the Scoreboard Chieftain" award. With our CHS Player's Creed (see below) in mind, we wanted to find a way to recognize our students for more than mere athletic achievements but for the character they display both on and off the court/field/pool. Therefore, each season teams will be asked to nominate a fellow teammate for the award based on who they believe best exemplifies the characteristics of a Chief (i.e., Courage, Humility, Integrity, Endurance, and Focus). The award winner will have a short article written about them in The Arrow (our school newspaper) describing the contributions they have made to their team and community. The first article featuring athletes from a few of our Spring season sports is set to be published in just a few weeks so be sure to be on the look out and help us celebrate our tremendous young student-athletes.

CHS Player's Creed

It is the mission of the CHS athletics program to teach our student-athletes principles that will guide them for the rest of their lives. CHS athletics isn't just about better athletes, but better people. That is why we are so excited to launch our new CHS Player's Creed (see below). In collaboration with the CHS Athletic Leadership council and various stakeholders, the CHS Player’s Creed was developed to outline what we believe it means to be a CHIEF. Every student participating in athletics at CHS, as well as their parent/guardian will be required to sign the CHS Student-Athlete Contract which states the following:

As a student-athlete at Clairemont High School you have the privilege of being part of a memorable and life changing experience. With this privilege comes great responsibility. Therefore, it is the expectation of the CHS admin team and Athletic Director that all who participate in athletics actively work to model character and integrity of the highest quality in the classroom, on the court/pool/field, and in our community. By signing this contract, you agree to strive to live a life worthy of emulating by exhibiting Courage, Humility, Integrity, Endurance, and Focus in all that you do.
