Lesson 19
Design Thinking Process: How can we show visitors how we care for our classroom?
This project is designed to integrate science and the process of building classroom community. Students explore the needs of living and nonliving things in their classroom and school environment on nature walks. They begin to recognize patterns in the needs of plants and animals (including humans). Through read alouds, role plays, and games, students learn how to take care of the living and nonliving things in the classroom and build a community culture of respect.
Students become ambassadors of their classroom. Their mission is to welcome visitors by explaining their classroom community and how they take care of living and nonliving things. Students use the design thinking process to create an eBook that introduces visitors to their classroom.
