SEPTEMBER 2022 NEWSLETTER:
During the month of September, Social Justice Academy had their first event of the 2022-2023 school year. On September 21st, SJA students honored Peace Day. Students came up with current social justice issues and painted their ideas on rocks. Students gathered at the Hoover football field during their third period and tossed their painted rocks into a pool of water. As more rocks were tossed into the pool, the water would rise higher and higher. This symbolized the impact we, as students, can have on such big problems around us. In addition to the rock activity, we heard from student speakers who shared their thoughts on peace. To wrap up the event, SJA students formed a beautiful peace sign on the field and were treated with popsicles.
