2021 PrimeTime Summer Program Overview

June 21 – July 16, 2021 (19 days/Closed July 5th)


San Diego Unified School District’s (SDUSD) Extended Learning Opportunities (ELO) Department will be working collaboratively with your PrimeTime Partner Organization to offer a half day PrimeTime Summer Program at eligible elementary and middle level schools. The PrimeTime Summer Program will provide an engaging environment where students can strengthen their academic skills and participate in fun enrichment activities within the areas of art, science, music, athletics, and social emotional learning. Students who participate in the summer program will be offered a free nutritious meal.

Program Hours and Schedule (All Schools)

4.5 hours (after the dismissal of the SDUSD Summer School Experience morning)

Target Student Enrollment per School

80 at Elementary Schools and 60 at Middle Schools

Student Eligibility and Enrollment

All currently enrolled SDUSD students during the 2020-21 school year including transitional-kindergarten through seventh grade students must be enrolled in the SDUSD Summer School Experience to be eligible to apply for the PrimeTime Summer Program. SDUSD students identified in Tier I and homeless/foster attending the SDUSD Summer School Experience will receive highest priority enrollment. All other applications will be placed on a waitlist and enrolled based on a first come first serve basis as space becomes available.

Initial Application Timeline (May 17 – May 28, 2021):

Applications will be available online beginning Monday, May 17, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. (Pacific Standard Time) and must be completed and submitted online by Friday, May 28, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time). Application will continue to be accepted after this date.

Parent Notification of Application Status

Priority students accepted into the program will be notified via email of the status of their application no later than Wednesday, June 2, 2021. The email will notify families of whether their child(ren) has been accepted to participate, placed on the wait list, or is not eligible.

Accepted Students Registration Process

Once parents/guardians receive the acceptance notification, you will need to print and complete the 2021 PrimeTime Summer Student Participation Forms available in English/Spanish/Tagalog/Vietnamese. The completed forms will need to be scanned and sent to the Partner Organization providing services at that school site by Tuesday, June 15, 2021 in order to participate in the PrimeTime Summer Programs beginning June 21, 2021.

Attendance PolicyIn accordance with the California Education Code Section 8483(a) (1) that provides funding for PrimeTime, students are expected to participate in the program every day.
