Directly teach ways to express frustration with others (peers or adults) or with frustration with assignments
Teach or integrate coping skills into classroom routine (e.g., calming couch with a timer, mindfulness moment, breaks)

Hold a restorative circle (contact counselors/VP to facilitate)
Model alternative way of expressing feelings/needs and have student repeat
Praise alternative language that does not use profanity (e.g., expression of feelings, stating they need help or that a task is hard)
Clearly outline classroom responses or consequences to the use of profanity (e.g., parent phone call home) and follow consistently
