The Literacy Acceleration Team is part of SDUSD’s UTK-12 Literacy Team. Our work is part of a tiered system of support in which we provide intensified support to identified elementary schools. Intensified support includes professional development, modeling, co-planning, coaching, and direct supplemental reading support to students in grades K-3. This plan is in alignment with Assembly Bill 181 and State Superintendent Tony Thurmond’s effort to ensure that all California elementary students learn to read by the third grade by the year 2026.

All students will exit 3rd grade reading at grade level.
All educators and leaders will have the knowledge and skills to provide research-based, standards-based literacy instruction to accelerate the literacy development of Kindergarten to Grade 3 students.
