Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What do I need to check out books?
You will need your student ID number from your Student Card. If you forget it, we can help you remember.

When can I come to the library?
You will visit the library every four weeks with your Language Arts teacher. You may also come during morning break, lunch, and after school, if the library is open.

How many books may I check out?
You may check out up to two books at a time.

Do you have comic books?
Yes, you will find them in the Comics Section, located in the Primary level area, under the Picture Stories section.

How can I find a book?
Our OPAC is available online, allowing you to search for books wherever you have Internet access, whether at home or school. Librarians are always available to make suggestions and guide you to some great reading materials!

Can I check out games, videos, or DVDs?
DVDs are reserved for use by teachers.

Can I check out something even if I have an overdue book?
If you have an overdue book, you will be restricted to paperbacks until the book is returned or renewed.

Do you charge fines for overdue books?
No, but we do ask that you return books once you have finished with them. Remember, others may be waiting to check out the same book, and overdue books will prevent you from viewing your report card at the end of the term.

Can I check out something for my best friend?
No, items you check out should be for your use only. You are responsible if your friend loses or damages the book. It’s best to return the book and let your friend check it out themselves.

Can a book be renewed?
Yes, if you need more time to finish a book, bring it to the librarian to renew it.
