In the Reserve Race at Jamboree 1, Lucas Bahena lead a crew of 6 Hornets under 20 minutes; huge breakthroughs for all 6 guys. Lucas, Christopher Welt, Gabe Arreguin, Noah LeCompte, John Schmidt, and Grayson Durflinger lead a promising future of Saline Hornets!
We knew Wes Rogan would be a problem for our competition this Fall. On Tuesday, he ran himself to a 7th Overall finish and a new PR of 16:15.00
At Friday's hot and hilly Spartan Invite, some mid race carnage saw Saline slipping down the rankings. Thankfully, junior Carlos Basulto ran strong as the 3rd man to help take our 4th and 5th across the line just behind him.
Brennan Larusso has the daunting task of being the team's only senior this year. The rest of the team has much to learn from him as he shares his wisdom every Wednesday from his years on the team. He put his experience to use on Friday at the Spartan Invite finishing an impressive 16th place overall amongst the state's stop runners.
Grayson started his 9th grade year in 2024 with a 27 minute 5k before finding his way down to 23:00 by the end of the season. Just a few meets in, and he's already found himself a shiny new PR of 21:36. Could we see a 7+ minute year to year improvement by the end of this Fall? I think so.
