Saline XC always aims to be the top team in the league. This year, after a strong run at Hudson Mills, the boys finished second to the number one ranked team in the state. While an impressive run from the boys, we aim to be back on top soon!
There has been a really, really tight competition for making the top 7 cut for Saline Varsity XC this season. Jack has been working very hard to come back from his early ankle injury to find himself back in the top 7. On Wednesday, he was named our 8th man. Then, due to a sickness in the top 7, Jack was tapped to step into the lineup on race day. He stepped up and delivered, finishing in a line of 3 straight Saline finishers with Carter Mitton and Gavin Bast just ahead.
Sub 19 has been a goal for many of our top B group runners this season. C group Junior Will VanHaaften offered up his pacing services to lead several Hornets at an attempt at cracking the barrier. Freshman Grayson Durflinger gave it his all to end in a new PR of 19:03.8. While the barrier wasn't smashed yet, this shows a lot of promise for the young man's future in the sport.
In the Open/Reserve race at Jambo 3, 10 Hornets crossed the line with a new PR. Given the tough trails and rolling terrain of the course, this is an impressive feat. As we move into the championship post-season with C group, we'll carry the inspiration all the hard-working young runners in A and B group gave us.Â
