Message from Principal, Huerta

Welcome back Roosevelt families! I hope you all had a restful summer with lots of time to have fun in the sun. Ms. Chiboucas and I are looking very forward to another successful year at Roosevelt. According to our Smarter Balanced test results, Roosevelt students had a very strong year for learning last year. We are so very proud of our students and teachers because we made significant growth in both English Language Arts and Math according to the state test. We hope to continue to prepare all of you for college and the workforce. This year, we plan to add student clubs such as Leadership Council and more! After-school Steinbeck Homework Club will continue, Intervention begins in September, and our BEST program will be highly-structured with more emphasis on student engagement and learning. Something else new will be our Classroom Student of the Month and school wide Reading (AR) and Physical Fitness Challenges. Parents, please contact our office, or email Ms. Chiboucas or me if you are interested in becoming part of Roosevelt’s culture so we can continue to improve. The more parent voices and energy that we have, the more wonderful extended learning opportunities we can offer your children. Please join our School Site Council, Parent Teacher Group, ELAC Committee, or fund raising events. For those of you who are new to Roosevelt, Welcome! Please stay tuned for our monthly community calendar so you can plan to attend our parent opportunities.

Warm regards,

Principal Huerta
