Community Concerns
Vandalism
In the past week, there has been an increase in vandalism in school bathrooms, including messages that target groups based on their identity. These actions not only damage school property but also create an unwelcoming environment for our community. It is important to remember that our school is a place of respect, inclusion, and integrity. Taking care of our shared spaces and treating each other with kindness reflects our school values.
Theft from the Cafeteria
We have had an increase in theft of items in the cafeteria. It is essential that students pay for all purchases. Cafeteria and duty staff are on alert to this so please show our school value of integrity buy paying for all items taken.
For students found to be involved in either of these areas of concerns our levels of discipline will be used to put appropriate consequences.

Grade 11 Study Block
Republished on 12th February. Feedback has been provided to the High School Principals that the expectations are not being met for this valuable learning time. Please respect the staff running study hall by following the expectations below.
Grade 11 students must now remain in the study hall for the whole block unless needing the bathroom or for a calendared meeting.
Grade 11 Study Block Expectations
The supervised study block is designed to provide a quiet, structured environment where students can focus on their academic responsibilities during their scheduled block. Below are the key expectations for all students:
Punctuality and Attendance
Be on time for each study block. Attendance is taken promptly at the start, and late arrivals will be marked as tardy. Consistent punctuality is expected.Remaining in the Study Hall
Students are required to stay in the study hall for the entire duration of the block. Leaving early or without permission is not allowed.Quiet and Focused Environment
Maintain a quiet atmosphere to support concentration. Conversations should be minimal and restricted to academic topics. Noise levels must not disturb others.Individual Work Focus
You are expected to work independently on assignments, reading, or studying. Group work is only permitted if it is necessary and does not distract others. Students must remain in the study hall at all times.Academic Use of Time
Use your time productively to focus on school-related tasks such as completing homework, studying for exams, or advancing in projects. If you have completed your assignments, use the remaining time to review notes, prepare for future lessons, or read academic materials.Appropriate Device Usage
Devices (laptops, tablets, etc.) are permitted solely for academic purposes. Non-academic use, such as playing games, using social media, or browsing unrelated websites, is not allowed.Headphone Use
Headphones may be used for academic purposes only, such as listening to educational content, watching instructional videos, or following audio-based learning. Always ensure that the volume is low to avoid disturbing others.Avoiding Distractions
Avoid distracting others by engaging in off-topic conversations or making unnecessary noise. Refrain from any activity that might disrupt the learning environment for your peers.Maximizing Productivity
Set personal goals for each study block, aiming to complete or make significant progress on your assignments. Use this time to enhance your academic performance and stay on top of your workload.Meeting with School Staff
If you need to meet with any school staff during this block, ensure that you have a calendar invite to show the study block teacher before leaving the room.
By adhering to these expectations, you are contributing to a productive and supportive study environment that benefits everyone.

No food in the Library
Please do not bring any food into the library
We are experiencing a marked increase in HS students bringing food into the library and then leaving trash behind when they leave. The librarians are finding juice cartons, cracker/biscuit wrappers (sometimes with partials left behind inside), food wrappers stuffed between the cushions of the seats, empty lunch containers with food remains, and spills/splatters in the carpet.

If you know you are going to be absent it is essential that you collect a planned absence form from the High School office or access it through this link (Appendix F).

Transport/Bus Bay
There is a recent trend of students not arriving to the bus bay on time in the afternoons. Please follow the below:
First bell- 3.55 pm- This means the bus bay is open, and please enter, go straight to your bus(no hanging around)
Second bell 4.00 pm- This means all must now be boarded with their seatbelts worn correctly.
Third bell 4.05 pm- Final bell and Gate closed, Bus bay now closed and busses are leaving, no one can enter.
(Wednesdays will be 15mins earlier)
Starting November, Transport will be policing this further, and any student arriving after 4.05 pm will be denied boarding unless there is an exceptional reason (going to the cafe for chocolate milk is not a good reason) and must be escorted by a member of the transport team or duty teacher.
HS HL Time
HS HL time for Grade 11 and 12 students who are taking DP subjects has now officially begun for the year. Each Tuesday and Thursday during academic labs students will be rostered through extra learning time. Please check the linked roster each week for your classes and save when you are scheduled into your personal calendars.
