2 recognise the Church teaches that murder, abortion, suicide and euthanasia are contrary to having respect for life
3 identify ways people can protect life by giving others manaakitanga -care and support
L7: The students will then:
1 identify ways to respect the dignity of people
2 recognise that respect for life includes taking care of one’s health and the health of others
3 recognise that working for peace and justice protects life
4 explain how showing respect for the dead is a way of showing respect for life

1 identify what enables people to follow an informed conscience
2 identify hindrances to following one’s conscience
3 recognise one must not act against one’s conscience or be forced to do so

The students will:
1 define the meaning of conscience
2 recognise how conscience is formed
3 recall the Golden Rule and apply it to a life situation

Week 1
The students will:
1 explain what it means to have the gift - taonga of free will
2 recognise why God gives people the gift of free will
3 recognise how free will brings responsibility for actions
