"Every child is an artist." -Pablo Picasso
Class overview
My name is Lindsey Butler and I love to create! I am excited to work with your children this school year at Saint Margaret. In our classes, students will explore their creativity through drawing, coloring, painting, and more! We will learn about famous artists, try new techniques, and express ourselves through a variety of fun projects. Our goal is to display our ideas through our work. All students are artists here!
We will meet once a week on Tuesday or Thursday depending on grade.
Grades PreK3 - 4th will explore different materials, learn to use tools, and create from observation and imagination. We will work on fun seasonal projects and art that reinforces the rest of their academic curriculum.
Grades 5-8 will maintain a personal art portfolio throughout the year. This will include sketches, continuing work, and finished art work used to track progress. The portfolio will be cleared out after each quarter. This will help each student take ownership and develop confidence in their art.
Grades will be based on:
Keeping work organized and stored properly (5th-8th)
Effort and participation
Positive, respectful behavior in class
Following directions and using time wisely
What's Expected :
Listen carefully to instructions
Respect each other's art and ideas and our classroom environment.
Take care of art supplies- Use all tools and materials responsibly.
Clean up your space when you're done. Leave your table neat for the next artist.
Take your time - great art doesn't need to be rushed.
Try your best!
Be creative! There are no "wrong" answers in art.
Celebrate progress, not perfection!
Art Room Guidelines
Chat quietly with classmates at your table while working
Get up to sharpen your pencils, if there is not a line at the sharpener
Have fun! :)
