Week of September 22nd

We are off to a great week of getting our systems and routines down. I am so proud, keep up the good work! Just a reminder we have implemented our Give Me Five Sticker reward hand. Each finger represents a classroom expectation. This reward chart will help to encourage and foster positive behavior. The children are excited to share their daily Give Me Five handprint. Please see their SMS folder and don't forget to return it back the next day to earn more stickers!

Pinky- I can come in and unpack my book bag.

Ring- I can sit on the carpet and participate in our morning meeting.

Middle- I can complete my tasks in my centers.

Index- I can sit at the lunch table and play nice with my friends outside.

Thumb- I can sit on my map during quiet time.

I encourage you to involve your child as much as possible in talking together about the positive behavior we're aiming for and choosing a short-term reward such as playing a family game, extra bedtime book, extra dessert etc. Whatever works best for your family!

Last week we learned about the letter Aa. We did an awesome job making our first animal alphabet A is for alligator craft! In Religion, we shared the story about Adam and Eve, the first man and woman created by God. We will continue to spend more time learning how they disobeyed God by eating a forbidden fruit-apple and the sneaky snake.

I look in the mirror and what do I see? Just how special God made me! Students will be reminded of His love every time they look at their reflection in their handheld "This is Who God Loved!" mirror. Just like in the story, Chrysanthemum we also, realize our names are absolutely perfect! Using dot markers I can identify and count the letters in my name.

Have You Filled a Bucket Today? This book helps us to understand how buckets get filled! When children have their buckets filled and learn how they can fill other people's buckets too, they understand how special, valuable, and capable they are. We will sort pictures to show someone being a bucket filler/bucket dipper. Then, glue the bucket fillers to the happy bucket and the bucket dippers to the in sad bucket.

This week we will be as busy as bees exploring the letter Bb. We look forward to seeing the life cycle of a butterfly and making a butterfly to show the final transformation.

Did you know that John Chapman (Johnny Appleseed) birthday is September 25th. We look forward to celebrating his birthday with a roll and cover Math 1-10 number game using green, yellow, and red pouch tops to represent apples.

We're BEAR'Y excited to hear the stories, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? and Corduroy, We will complete an activity that identifies the colors and helps retell the sequence of the story. As well as, fulfilling in a comprehension and fine motor lacing activity to help sew the bear, Corduroy's colored shape (triangle, circle, heart etc.) button.
