HI!
I
Sean
It’s been a tough time for Sean at military school, ever since his mom and stepdad were killed seven years ago. Sean was supposed to be under the care of his mom’s cousins, but they didn’t want to keep him. He felt like he wasn’t in the real world with no parents, no house, and no real home that he could go to during the holidays.
Sean was twelve years old with tanned skin from being in Florida for seven years, he had thick brown hair and muscles from being worked to the bone. Sean was an only child so he didn’t have anybody to write to or call or text. In fact he didn’t have any friends at military school, he didn’t even think anybody had time to make friends.
Sean was getting tired of the head master and he planned to run away in two days, so he had to start packing his bags.
All of a sudden, one of the boys walked in and said “Where are you going?”
Sean managed to say “I’m going to go home.”
He took that as an honest answer and left. Now that he had the entire cabin to himself, he thought he might try to find some money lying around. I searched around the tent and found about 30 dollars before he heard the rest of the boys coming and tried to put my bag away as fast as possible. They saw me already in the tent and one of them said “Hey what are you doing here so early?”
Sean replied “I finished early, do you have a problem with that?” They all went back to their own thing and I decided to go to sleep early.
After Sean went to bed he had a dream that a Boy about 12-13 years old was running next to him. The boy said “Don’t run away from military school or you will feel pain far greater than that you would feel where you are now!”
Sean woke up to the sound of the trumpet that sounded at the start of the day and thought that his mind was just messing with him.Sean went to the mess hall but he only took an apple because he didn’t want to eat the weekly special.
At the breakfast table one of the boys said “Sean, do you know anything about any stolen money?”
“No, No I don't know about any stolen money.” Sean managed.
“Hey, didn’t you say that you were going to leave yesterday!” shouted the boy that Sean told he was going to leave.
After digging a trench for the older kids to play some world war two game, all Sean wanted to do was finish his plan. One of the kids who was digging the part of the trench next to him said “Hey, when are you going to leave?”
“After the day,” Sean said, “is over.”
The boy left to the only air conditioned building that they were allowed into besides the mess hall. The only other air conditioning was the relaxation room ( it’s not a room, it's a building ).
The time had come for Sean to run away from military school. After all the other children fell fast asleep he tiptoed out of the tent and into the area that was the battle field for the older kids. He tried his best to stay out of the sight of the watchtowers and in the shadows. Sean made it to the fence after trying to be the best ninja he could be. He slipped through the hole in the fence without getting caught and saw the shore line right in front of him. He finally felt free and himself, like when his parents were still alive.
Sean found the old row boat that he had been told about from one of the older kids and set sail for wherever he could find that wouldn't treat him so horribly. One thing Sean had on his mind about a year after his mom and step dad died was if he could ever find his real father.
