About Us

Al Sahwa Schools

Al Sahwa Schools has been leading education in Oman for 25 years. Founded in 1992 with a mission to develop the next generation of leaders for the beautiful country of Oman.

We are an institution of national significance, educating our fine students to be the leaders of the future. Our country is a beacon of peace and is considered to be the jewel of the Middle East. Oman is blessed to be guided by the wisdom His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Muatham, our benevolent leader and the enduring inspiration for all that we do.

Our students possess outstanding academic ability and acquire 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity. Through our programmes we aim to develop responsible citizens of the world. Our students are truly global citizens, fully prepared to support and lead Oman’s rapid progress, while maintaining a global perspective.

Al Sahwa’s outstanding curriculum supports our students in their quest for excellence. We follow the IB Primary Years Programme from KG1 to Grade 6, the Cambridge Curriculum from Grades 7 to 10 and the Omani General Education Diploma in Grades 11 & 12. This outstanding curricula offering is coupled with a rigorous programme of Islamic Studies, Arabic and Social Studies.

Our Facilities

Our campus is situated in the Shatti Al Qurum district of Muscat. This is one of the premier locations in Muscat and our neighbours include the major embassies as well as many restaurants and cafes. Al Shatti translates as ‘the beach’ and we are located a few minutes from the golden sands and the turquoise splendour of the Indian Ocean. Our stunning location lends itself to Al Sahwa’s environment of tranquility and calm.

Our campus is awash with colour and as well as a large grass field we also have many green spaces and floral displays. We understand that these aesthetic elements reflect the necessity of strengthening our community’s respect for the natural word. Of utmost importance to us is ensuring the safety of our school site. In recent years we have vastly improved our campus and our health and safety practices have been ratified and commended by national and international organisations.

Upon entering our campus, you will be struck by our colourful Kindergarten with its wonderfully coloured sail-shaped shades. It is vital that our students enjoy the outside as much as possible and we use industrial fans in the KG playground so that the students, and teacher, are cool even during the hottest months. The Kindergarten boasts newly-furnished specialist classrooms for both Arabic and English instruction. The outdoor spaces allow students to explore and play in a safe and secure environment. There is also a large basement area in which KG students can play.

The main block of the school consists of the Girls’ School and the Boys’ School. These buildings are joined by a central spine and our ‘mirror’ images of each other. The Primary school is on the ground floor and the secondary school on the first first floor. The main building has also undergone significant improvements with the addition of air conditioning to all corridors, new furniture, new learning spaces and the addition of Support for Learning classrooms.

Al Sahwa is committed to providing a learning environment befitting our reputation as one of Oman’s finest schools.. The physical environment continues to develop and the Board of Trustees is fully committed to further investing in the campus.
