In the entrance area there is an info screen that shows you which classes are taking place in which classroom.
On the ground floor on the left side you will find the Student Lounge. This area is intended as a general lounge and meeting place for students. Here you can talk or eat with your colleagues. There is even a small kitchenette including a microwave and dishwasher if you want to heat up food or boil water.
On the right side of the ground floor you will find the career advisors and the social media team. The career advisor team takes care of prospective students and advise potential new students. The Social Media Team is responsible for our presence on various channels:
Instagram @sae.institute.wien
TikTok @sae.institute.wien
Twitter @saewien
Facebook @SAEwien
Youtube @SAEwien
On the ground floor behind the student lounge you will find the greenbox and the equipment storage of the film department. Supervisors from the film department are on site every day to take care of equipment bookings as well rentals and proper returns of the equipment.
Also on the ground floor, behind the Student Lounge and next to the Greenbox, you will find the Podcast Studio.
In the mezzanine you will find SAE's recording & mixing studios. Each studio is inspired by the design of Austrian artists:
Neve Studio (Mozart Studio)
SAE's largest studio features an analog Neves Genesys console with expanded analog outboard equipment. The studio gives you the opportunity to record multiple musicians in a live setup as well as incorporate analog outboard equipment into the production process.
Mixed Cinema (Romy Schneider Kinoregie)
The cinema control room contains an Avid S6 controller and a surround system. This studio can be used by audio students for mixing surround projects.
SSL Studio (Falco Studio)
The SSL Studio is equipped with an SSL Matrix console and several outboard devices. This studio is primarily set up as a mixing suite but can also be used for smaller recording sessions.
Apollo Studio (Bilderbuch Studio)
In Bilderbuch Studio you will find a slightly larger recording room with a ProTools system.
Pro Tools Studio (Camo & Krooked)
This studio is designed for mixing in Pro Tools and is equipped with a Neve summing unit and professional monitoring.
Soundproduction Studio (Soap & Skin)
This studio is the soundlab of SAE Vienna, with a selection of midi equipment and synthesizers.
Audient Studio (Kruder and Dorfmeister Studio)
The Audient is a small but nice analog desk available for mixing and recording.
The classrooms of SAE Vienna are located on the 1st floor. There are 4 regular classrooms (Ottakring, Favoriten, Simmering and Donaustadt), as well as the Kaisersaal, which can also be used for larger internal events (e.g.: awarding of certificates).
The editing studios of the film department are located on the 2nd floor. These studios are featured with modern equipment for editing, compositing and color correction as well as the corresponding hardware.
If you want to browse through SAE Vienna's book collection, or are just looking for a quiet place to study and work, you are best off in our library. The library is located on the 2nd floor. Here you will find books from all our departments, bachelor theses from our former students and professional articles.
The SAE library is a reference library. This means that you are welcome to read the books at any time on campus, but you are not allowed to take them home. If you want to take a book from the library to the edit area, for example an artbook as a template for drawing, please let the supervisors know.
A few important rules:
To maintain a good working atmosphere, please stay quiet in the library. For normal work you can sit in the Edit Area on the 5th floor and for chatting in the Student Lounge.
For meetings in small groups you can also book project rooms.
Do not bring food or drinks into the library to avoid damaging books and papers and disturbing your colleagues. You can sit down to eat in the Student Lounge on the ground floor.
Opening hours: The library is open Monday to Friday between 9 am and 9 pm and Saturday between 9 am and 3 pm.
On the 1st floor there are 2 project rooms ("Project Room 1" and "Project Room 2") & on the 2nd floor in the library there is 1 additional project room ("Castle Park") that you can book for group projects. The project rooms are especially suitable for team meetings if you are looking for a more quiet place.
The common Practice Area of SAE Vienna is located on the 5th floor. Here you will find workstations of the different departments where you can work on your projects. Workstations are bookable over the student portal.
Here you will also find the supervisor's desk.
